Vertiv Holdings Co is expanding its digital infrastructure and manufacturing capabilities to meet the rising power and cooling demands of AI-driven data centers. The company has entered into two strategic acquisitions. It agreed to acquire UtilityInnovation Group (UIG) for approximately $1.45 billion in cash, with potential additional payments up to $1.15 billion, to enhance its presence in grid interconnection, microgrid controls, and energy storage. Vertiv also agreed to acquire King Environmental Services Ltd (KES), a European provider specializing in fluid management and liquid cooling for high-density data centers, to expand thermal management services across the EMEA region. The KES deal is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2026. In addition to these acquisitions, Vertiv is expanding its manufacturing campus in Nové Mesto nad Váhom, Slovakia. The project involves adding approximately 22,000 square meters of space over the next 18 to 24 months to increase production of power, switchgear, and thermal management technologies. Paul Ryan, president of Vertiv in EMEA, stated the investment responds to the “increasing demand for critical digital infrastructure and the rapid adoption of AI.” The expansion is intended to improve supply chain resilience and is expected to create hundreds of new jobs between 2027 and 2029. To support these operational shifts, Michael Resha has been appointed Executive Vice President for Manufacturing, Logistics, and Operational Excellence. Furthermore, Vertiv signed is also pursuing international growth through a letter of intent collaboration with Cybastion Cybastion. The two companies are exploring opportunities to explore develop digital infrastructure, data centers, and AI infrastructure opportunities across several six African nations, including markets, specifically Morocco, Ivory Coast, Côte d’Ivoire, Senegal, Burkina Faso, Chad, and Gabon. While the partnership may create work for local contractors and suppliers, no specific construction projects or investment figures have been confirmed.
