Vietnam is implementing various digital transformation and modernization initiatives across different sectors. In the media and communications landscape, institutions have entered into cooperation agreements to develop a digital media workforce, focusing on training content creators and livestream sellers in practical skills, advertising regulations, and legal compliance. In the agricultural sector, modernization efforts have expanded to include a shift toward an “agricultural economic mindset.” In Phu Tho province, farmers are moving beyond simple yield production to focus on quality, branding, and market demand. This transition utilizes the OCOP program to standardize processes such as raw material selection, food safety, and traceability for products like tea and honey. Regional Farmers’ Unions are also providing vocational training in digital skills, soil improvement, crop productivity, and the use of biological products to establish circular production zones. High-tech adoption is accelerating in provinces like Thanh Hoa. At the Xuan Thien Thanh Hoa 2 livestock farm, AI-integrated camera systems are used for herd monitoring. In Hoang Tien commune, a farm managing over 1,000 pigs utilizes automated feeding, watering, disinfection, and smart lighting systems connected to mobile software for remote management. This automation has reportedly reduced production costs by 7-15% and increased productivity by 10-20% while improving disease control. Digitalization is also expanding into crop cultivation and aquaculture through IoT technology, net houses, drones, and mechanized equipment. Sustainable livestock models are also gaining momentum through circular economy initiatives. In Hue, organic pig farming models that integrate waste processing into fertilizer production have demonstrated economic efficiencies at least 11% higher than traditional methods. Furthering the circular economy, Vietnam is exploring sustainable industrial practices to manage waste in aquaculture and manufacturing. In marine farming, experts suggest that using appropriate industrial feed is a key solution to reduce waste discharge and protect ecosystems in enclosed bays. Additionally, a project led by UNDP Vietnam and the DEEP C Industrial Zone is researching the reuse of treated industrial wastewater for cooling, irrigation, and production processes to enhance corporate competitiveness and resource conservation. To further international scientific exchange, Hanoi is set to host the 21st Asia-Australia Animal Production (AAAP 2026) conference from October 28-31, 2026. Aquaculture is also undergoing a transition from traditional nearshore cage farming to large-scale, industrial offshore models.
