Provinces in Vietnam are implementing various strategies to balance industrial growth with environmental sustainability and social stability. In Phu Tho, authorities are focusing on water security, dam safety, and managing a network of 5,917 irrigation works. Efforts to promote green growth include controlling waste discharge, with 82.4% of industrial zones and 56.3% of industrial clusters utilizing centralized wastewater treatment. The province is also prioritizing job creation through vocational counseling and mobile job fairs. During the first nine months of 2026, the number of employed workers increased by nearly 56,300, reaching 109.5% of the annual target. Additionally, local governance is integrating Communist Party meetings with resolving grassroots issues such as rural transportation and clean water. In Hai Phong, industrial expansion has increased water demand and heightened challenges from pollution and saltwater intrusion. Salinity levels in key river sections have reached notable peaks, reducing freshwater extraction time by an average of 40% and decreasing total stored water volumes by 60% compared to previous years. To support a green city transition, the city is reforming waste management. While urban solid waste collection reaches 95%, the city faces low source-sorting rates. A new directive prioritizes waste classification at the source, supported by a “green card-yellow card” monitoring system in areas like Ngo Quyen ward. In Binh Dinh, development is shifting toward ecological industrial zones. At the Becamex VSIP Binh Dinh Industrial Park, investments include rooftop solar panels with a capacity of approximately 91.7 kWp, which are expected to reduce CO2 emissions by about 136 tons annually. The company is also exploring a 210 MWp solar farm project and aims to reuse at least 75% of treated wastewater. Recent efforts in Phu Tho and Hoa Binh involve the Industrial Zones Management Board organizing conferences for over 200 businesses to disseminate new environmental protection laws.
