In September 2026, the State Bank of Vietnam approved charter capital increases for two commercial banks. First, Tien Phong Commercial Joint Stock Bank (TPBank) received approval to increase its charter capital by more than 4,161 billion VND. This process involves issuing 416.1 million new shares as dividends to existing shareholders, utilizing undistributed accumulated profits. The plan aims to raise TPBank’s charter capital from 27,740 billion VND to 31,901 billion VND. Subsequently, An Binh Commercial Joint Stock Bank (ABBank) was granted approval to increase its charter capital by a maximum of 10,765.455 billion VND. ABBank intends to execute this increase through three methods: offering additional shares to existing shareholders, issuing shares from owner’s equity, and issuing shares to employees. Following these phases, the bank’s charter capital is expected to reach approximately 26,833.3 billion VND. Recent shareholder disclosures for ABBank indicate that 18 shareholders own more than 1% of the bank's charter capital, representing over 56% of the total. Major institutional shareholders include Malayan Banking Berhad (Maybank) with a 12.145% stake, Geleximco Group with 9.466%, and Glexhomes with 3.279%. The highest direct individual ownership is held by Vu Thi Hai Yen at 4.08%.
