The historical fantasy drama ‘Jia Jin Chai’ (also referred to as ‘Where the Mask Ends’), starring Tian Xiwei and Yan An, achieved rapid viewership success following its premiere on October 16, 2026. On the Youku platform, the series reached a heat index of 9,000 within 26 hours and surpassed 10,000 points within 48 hours, making it the fastest production of 2026 to reach those milestones. The production has secured 33 advertising brands, the highest for a female-led drama on Youku in three years. Internationally, the show reached number 8 on the Netflix global TV program charts and appeared in the top 10 in 28 countries and regions, including Thailand, Taiwan, and Hong Kong. The 30-episode series, which follows a story of identity substitution and domestic power struggles, has also sparked viewer debate regarding Tian Xiwei’s acting style. Based on a novel by Xiao Jiaren, the plot centers on A Chou, a low-status woman who is used as a substitute bride for Lu Zhuo, the heir to a duke’s mansion, due to her resemblance to a noblewoman named Wei Rao. The series features a dual role for Tian Xiwei, portraying both the impoverished girl and the arrogant noblewoman. The production has drawn attention for its fast-paced storytelling and cast members with South Korean music industry backgrounds, including Yan An, a former member of PENTAGON, and Wang Yiren, formerly of Everglow. The opening theme is performed by Liu Yuning.
