Viking Mines Ltd reported the discovery of high-grade tungsten material within historic waste dumps at its Linka project in Nevada. Sampling revealed assays reaching up to 1.8% tungsten trioxide (WO3). The company indicated that material discarded from 1950s mining operations could potentially be processed using modern sensor-based ore-sorting technology to bolster domestic supplies of the metal, which is considered critical for industrial and defense applications. Following these findings, the US Bureau of Land Management has granted Viking Mines approval to collect a 907-tonne bulk sample from the Linka tungsten project. The company plans to process this sample to produce high-grade concentrate intended for US-based refineries.
