The statement noted heightened international attention after former President Donald Trump reposted a video in which Rev. Dachomo appealed for U.S. intervention. By late August, U.S. lawmakers intensified pressure on Nigeria following further deadly violence in Mangu Local Government Area, where suspected Fulani militia reportedly killed at least 23 people in reprisal attacks. Congressman Riley Moore stated the U.S. will not remove Nigeria from its ‘Country of Particular Concern’ list until killings of Christians cease, suggesting potential sanctions and visa restrictions.
