The West Bank has seen an escalation in military activity and settler violence. Initial reports highlighted intensified Israeli military operations across governorates such as Ramallah, Jenin, Nablus, Tuba, and Hebron, involving house searches, interrogations, and arrests. During this period, United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres warned against the ‘gradual annexation’ of the territory, noting that settlement expansion and settler violence were undermining a two-state solution. By October, the Palestinian Cabinet, led by Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa, reported continued violence, specifically noting that during the olive harvest season, 102 attacks on farmers occurred, resulting in the theft of crops, the uprooting of 2,204 olive trees, and four deaths. The Cabinet also highlighted increased demolitions and restrictions, such as the installation of iron gates in Hebron’s Old City, as well as rising tensions in Jerusalem. In mid-October, the Palestinian Cabinet reported a significant surge in violence, documenting 719 attacks against citizens and property between October 4 and October 10. These incidents included the destruction of 27 Palestinian facilities, the burning of vehicles, and the theft of crops. The Cabinet called for more serious international action to halt these military operations and settler violence. By mid-October, the United Nations issued further alarms regarding rising settler violence. Reported incidents include attacks on Palestinian property, such as teenage Israeli settlers targeting a locked gate at a family estate in al Mughayir, as well as the burning of vehicles and theft of livestock. These escalations occur alongside a worsening humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip, where officials report severe infrastructure destruction and immense debris removal requirements. On October 19, Fatah official Jibril Rajoub warned that increasing settler violence—including physical assaults, land seizure, and vandalism of religious sites—risks triggering an ‘explosion’.
