In Saint-Maur-des-Fossés, a 7-year-old boy is suspected of fatally stabbing his aunt during a family dispute on September 18. The incident reportedly stemmed from a disagreement between two sisters regarding hair straightening. Investigators state the child allegedly used a knife to inflict serious wounds to the victim’s neck and back. The victim, identified as 49-year-old Nadia S., managed to flee the apartment and reach the street before collapsing. Despite efforts from emergency services and SAMU, she succumbed to her injuries at approximately 5:17 a.m. Police reported finding the child with blood on his hands; he allegedly stated, ‘Yes, it was me. I don't want to go to prison. I don't want you to put my mother in prison. I was defending my mama.’ The child’s 34-year-old mother was taken into custody. Due to French law regarding the presumption of non-discernment for children under 13, no criminal proceedings can be initiated against the minor. The case has been referred to child protection services and a juvenile judge to evaluate the family situation and determine necessary psychological or social support.
