Reports from Moldova and Romania continue to highlight various violent incidents and child welfare concerns. In Moldova, an investigation was launched by Ombudsman Ceslav Panico following a fatal domestic violence case where a man allegedly killed his wife despite a standing protection order. Between September 18 and 20, Moldovan police recorded 180 reports of family violence, resulting in 47 emergency restriction orders. In Mangalia, authorities detained a 26-year-old man following a high-speed chase that ended with him driving onto a beach while intoxicated. Additionally, a 15-year-old girl in Mangalia was physically assaulted and humiliated by a group of teenagers following a social media challenge, resulting in the arrest of a 19-year-old and the placement of a minor under house arrest. Domestic violence remains a critical issue. In Gugești, Romania, a 27-year-old woman was ~~killed during a domestic dispute on the night of September 26-27, 2026.
