Two separate incidents of shooting-related violence were reported in Florida in October 2026. In Safety Harbor, Christopher Dodge Smith, 40, was charged with first-degree murder and child abuse. Following a confrontation at a bar, Smith allegedly shot his girlfriend, Jessica Antolini, in the head and subsequently ran over her body with his vehicle. A five-year-old child in the vehicle reportedly witnessed the shooting. In Port St. John, Katherine Kelly, 24, was charged with attempted first-degree murder and other offenses after shooting into an occupied vehicle. According to the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office, Kelly used a ride-sharing service to track her boyfriend, Elijah Baker, due to suspected infidelity. Upon locating Baker with another woman, Angel Adenau, Kelly allegedly fired a single round from a pink-and-black Glock handgun through a car window, striking Adenau in the left shoulder. Kelly reportedly initially claimed she acted in self-defense, but later told investigators she opened fire to ‘make a point’ regarding the suspected cheating, expressing a belief in ‘karma’ during questioning. Investigators also noted that Kelly had previously sent text messages threatening to shoot someone. In addition to attempted murder, Kelly faces charges of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, shooting into an occupied vehicle, and use of a firearm during the commission of a crime.
