Italy continues to experience various emergency situations involving rescues and accidents. Recent operations highlight the coordination of military and civilian services. In the Zingaro Nature Reserve, an Italian Air Force helicopter and mountain rescue teams winched a 43-year-old injured hiker to safety for hospital transfer. Additionally, off-duty police officers provided critical first aid to a woman who collapsed on Palmi beach. Maritime and road-related emergencies have also been reported. In San Vito Lo Capo, the Coast Guard and local authorities rescued a family of four after their boat suffered engine failure. In Melito Porto Salvo, a deputy director of the Reggio Calabria Fire Department assisted in rescuing two children from a SUP board swept away by currents. Other maritime incidents included a vessel capsizing in Licata, which required the rescue of seven people. On land, emergency responders in Scorzè utilized divers to extract four young adults from a car that had plunged into a water-filled ditch. Recent reports indicate a surge in diverse operations, including a major humanitarian mission where the emergency ship Life Support docked in Bari with 48 rescued individuals and 7 deceased persons recovered from international waters near Libya, including 29 unaccompanied minors. Other domestic emergencies include a man trapped in a submerged underpass due to flooding in the Tigullio region, a woman left unconscious by a gas leak in Ostiglia, and a child saved from choking in a public pool in Sant’Agata de’ Goti by a healthcare worker.
