On August 19, 2026, an armed attack occurred in the Malvas area of Irapuato, targeting individuals traveling on motorcycles. The victims victims, identified as a group of amateur football players, were reportedly returning from a soccer match when they were intercepted by assailants. The incident unfolded in two stages along the Malvas-San José Temascatío road. Two victims were killed near the intersection of Ramón Corona The first attack on Malvas Street resulted in three deaths and Revolución streets, while a one injury. A pursuit continued toward the Libramiento Norte, resulting in a third fatality and one injury. Local security forces and Malvas bridge on the Guardia Nacional responded Irapuato-Querétaro highway, where a second confrontation led to the scene, one additional fatality and authorities have provided surveillance footage to the Fiscalía General del Estado to aid the investigation. Updated reports on two more injuries. As of August 20 indicate 20, the death toll has risen to four people, with at least three others injured. The violence involved an initial shooting on Malvas Street that killed three men and injured one, followed by a pursuit toward the Malvas bridge on the Irapuato-Querétaro highway, where another person was killed and two others were wounded. Consuelo Cruz Galindo, head of the Irapuato Citizen Security Secretariat, stated that surveillance footage suggests the victims were caught in “fuego cruzado” (crossfire) during a confrontation between two criminal groups. In addition to Local security forces, the National Guard, and the Mexican Army has have deployed operations in personnel to the area. No area to secure the scene and collect ballistic evidence. The Fiscalía General del Estado is utilizing surveillance footage to aid the investigation, though no arrests have been reported.
