The Tamil-Telugu bilingual family drama *Vishwanath & Sons*, directed by Venky Atluri and starring Suriya, was released worldwide on 14 August 2026. Produced by Sithara Entertainments, Fortune Four Cinemas, and Srikara Studios, the film features music by G. V. Prakash Kumar. Prior to release, the production team confirmed the completion of sound mixing at Sound Vibe Studios. Atluri described the project as a special journey designed for family viewing, aiming for “more than 90% entertainment” through laughter and emotion. Despite lower-than-expected advance bookings, the film achieved a strong opening, earning approximately ₹33 crore gross worldwide on its first day. Within five days, the film reached a worldwide gross of approximately ₹130 crore. While performance in Tamil Nadu and Kerala was noted as weaker than expected, consistent numbers from Telugu markets and overseas territories sustained momentum. By its tenth day, the film reached approximately ₹200 crore, and later reportedly crossed the ₹260 crore mark. In North America, the film earned roughly $2.1 million, surpassing its $1.8 million breakeven target. Following its theatrical run, the film began streaming on Netflix on 11 September 2026 in five languages: Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam. The streaming release has drawn mixed reviews. While some viewers continue to praise the performances of Suriya and Mamitha Baiju, others have criticized the film for “forced emotions” and a slow second half. Some critics noted a lack of cohesive direction when attempting to balance progressive themes, such as surrogacy, with traditional values. Additionally, some viewers reported technical issues on Netflix, specifically a 20-second sequence with poor visual quality due to a Dolby Vision error. Following its digital debut, the film has faced significant social media criticism.
