Visit Finland culinary tourism campaign

Overview

Visit Finland has launched the ‘Finnish Dinner Date’ initiative, a culinary tourism campaign designed to promote the nation’s gastronomy and regional traditions to an international audience. As part of the broader ‘Have Some Finnish’ campaign, the project invites 16 singles to participate in fully hosted four-day trips to Helsinki or Tampere in February 2027.

Participants will experience tasting menus prepared by renowned chefs, such as Adele Kinnunen of Café Savoy and Henry Tikkanen of Restaurant Gösta, featuring ingredients like fish, game, and forest berries. The initiative was inspired by the popularity of ‘sinkkukori’, or pink baskets, which are used in Finnish stores to signal openness to meeting new people.

While the program encourages social interaction through group dining, Business Finland stated the primary goal is to encourage people to experience Finnish culture through food rather than specifically seeking romantic partners. To enter, applicants must submit a short video in English to social media explaining a dish they would serve on a romantic date. Winners will have their flights, accommodation, meals, and local activities covered by organizers.
