As the Macchina di Santa Rosa procession approaches, authorities in Viterbo are focusing on public safety and logistical management. Prefect Sergio Pomponio has reaffirmed a ban on placing chairs, sofas, or other items along the procession route, specifically citing Via Cavour and Via Garibaldi, to ensure clear escape routes and prevent obstructions for spectators. Security preparations have expanded to include extensive inspections of the city’s underground infrastructure. Firefighters and law enforcement officers have inspected manholes along the parade route to check for explosives or hazardous substances, resealing them once cleared. To accommodate the thousands of expected visitors, the municipality has implemented a logistics plan featuring road closures, parking restrictions, and free shuttle services to the city center. Technical preparations included the official weighing of the ‘Dies Natalis’ Macchina in San Sisto. Using specialized military equipment from the 4th Aves Scorpione Support Squadron Group, the Macchina was recorded at 5,071 kilograms, a slight decrease from its 2025 weight of 5,088 kilograms. The structure, designed by Raffaele Ascenzi, will be carried by a team of facchini led by Luigi Aspromonte. Community festivities continue to intensify. The 58th Trasporto of the ‘Minimacchina’ recently completed a new 1,400-meter route, carried by 185 young participants—including an increasing number of female and foreign members—concluding for the first time at the Basilica of Santa Rosa. Logistical restrictions for the upcoming event include prohibiting vehicle circulation within the city walls starting at 13:00, with earlier closures in San Sisto and Porta Romana. Pedestrian access along the route will be restricted from 19:00 for public order. While free shuttles will operate from areas like Cassia Nord and Santa Barbara, some local residents have expressed dissatisfaction regarding the placement of portable toilets near the monument to the Facchini in Piazza della Repubblica.
