Putin warns of new world order and nuclear risks at Valdai Club

Speaking at the Valdai Discussion Club, Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that the world has reached a decisive turning point and is entering a new reality. He emphasized that the current global order is shifting toward a multipolar system and that the East, West, North, and South will eventually need to agree on the principles of a new world order.

Putin warned of the high probability of continued international conflicts as the global balance of power shifts and Western hegemony declines. He specifically noted that the decline of Western dominance could lead to a more stable and democratic global situation in the long term. He also raised concerns regarding the potential use of weapons of mass destruction, stating that no one can guarantee they will never be used.

Regarding regional tensions, Putin warned that Russia is prepared to use its full military arsenal, including nuclear weapons, if its territory or the Kaliningrad enclave is directly threatened. He attributed rising tensions to NATO's activities in the Baltic Sea and accused the West of fostering Russophobia. Additionally, Putin touched upon the risks of artificial intelligence, warning it could lead to a form of "digital totalitarianism."
