Niterói is scheduled to host several major volleyball events in September 2026. The 2026 Women’s Supervôlei Cup will take place from September 24 to 26 at the newly inaugurated Arena Niterói. The tournament, which serves as the opening of the national volleyball season, will feature elite Brazilian teams such as Sesc RJ Flamengo, Fluminense, and Dentil/Praia Clube. Local authorities intend for the event to stimulate the local economy and boost tourism. Additionally, the first stage of the Circuito Carioca de Vôlei de Praia is set for September 11 to 13 at Icaraí Beach. ~~This beach volleyball circuit, organized~~ Organized by Instituto Faça a Sua Parte (FASPAR) in partnership with the Ministry of Sports and Niterói City Hall, the circuit will feature free programming set against the backdrop of the Museum of Contemporary Art (MAC). The beach volleyball event will include ~~competitions~~ activities for various skill ~~levels~~ levels, ranging from beginners to advanced, as well as masters and ~~community-focused workshops.~~ guest athletes. The schedule begins on Friday with educational workshops for students, followed by competitive men’s and women’s matches on Saturday and Sunday. The infrastructure will consist of a main arena, five auxiliary courts, four mini-courts, and dedicated areas for food and social interaction.
