In Várzea Grande, municipal educators have introduced pedagogical projects using recyclable materials to teach mathematics to early childhood students. Secretary of Education, Culture, Sport, and Leisure, Maria Fernanda Figueiredo, has continued her inspection tour of the 100 municipal schools, monitoring infrastructure improvements such as the renovation of EMEB Professora Maria Joana da Silva Almeida. This facility is expected to transition to a full-time education model (ETI) in January 2027. To prepare for upcoming elections, the Municipal Secretariat of Education, Culture, Sport, and Leisure (SMECEL) has suspended classes at specific units designated as polling stations. These suspensions occur during Friday afternoon and Monday morning periods to facilitate the arrival of electronic voting machines. Secretary Figueiredo noted that these units must organize makeup classes to comply with national education guidelines. In conjunction with these logistics, some schools have implemented simulated elections to promote citizenship through candidate presentations and real-time voting. Social and recreational initiatives also continue, such as the Children’s Month celebrations. At João Ponce de Arruda Municipal School, approximately 105 children participated in a Children’s Day event featuring games, snacks, and gifts. The celebration included a donation of 120 toys from the Mato Grosso Legislative Assembly’s Secretariat of Social Integration and Citizenship (Seisc). Mayor Flávia Moretti attended the event, highlighting the need to strengthen ties between schools, families, and public administration. Broader celebrations for Children’s Day in Brazil include various culinary experiences, inclusive activities for children with special needs at the João Ribeiro Filho Special Assistance Center, and nature-focused campaigns by the Instituto Semeia to encourage outdoor engagement. Recent efforts to mark the occasion include special television programming, the release of feature films, and social projects like the ‘Multiplique o Bem’ initiative in Brasília, which provided leisure for vulnerable children.
