The Vuelta a España cycling competition transitioned from the Murcia region into Andalusia. Following a period of heat relief in Murcia, forecasts indicated rising temperatures as the race moved south. The competition progressed to a decisive penultimate stage in the province of Granada. This 186.8-kilometer route, starting in La Calahorra and finishing at Collado del Alguacil, traverses the Sierra Nevada peaks. To prepare for this leg, the municipality of Güéjar Sierra allocated 230,000 euros toward route ~~improvements.~~ improvements, marking the fifth time the area has hosted the race in 13 years. Logistical preparations for Stage 20 include a scheduled advertising caravan with technical stops in Guadix, Cenes de la Vega, Granada, and Huétor Vega. The stage also involves a complex security and technical operation: the Guardia Civil will utilize over 100 BMW motorcycles for traffic management, while the race organization uses Kawasaki motorcycles for technical support. Additionally, Televisión Española (TVE) will deploy specialized BMW motorcycles equipped with transmitters and 1.5-meter antennas to broadcast live footage from the peloton.
