The WDR talk show ‘Kölner Treff’ is marking its 50th anniversary. Originally conceived by Alfred Biolek, the program’s roots trace back to 1973 with the discussion round ‘Wer kommt, kommt’ at the Cologne ‘Senftöpfchen’. Since its official broadcast by WDR began in January 1976, the show has been known for featuring a mix of celebrities and regular citizens, with a specific regional focus on North Rhine-Westphalia. Over its history, the program has been hosted by various figures, including Dieter Thoma, Elke Heidenreich, and Bettina Böttinger. While the show has a long history, the current iteration originally returned in 2006 following a 23-year hiatus. Since 2017, the moderation has included Susan Link, who has hosted alongside Micky Beisenherz since 2023. To celebrate the milestone, the broadcaster is airing aired a special primetime anniversary talk titled ‘50 Jahre Kölner Treff - die große Jubiläumsausgabe’ broadcast. Following the anniversary, the program is scheduled to continue its regular run with upcoming guests including actor Heiner Lauterbach, Barbara Salesch, and a documentary. the daughter of CSU politician Markus Söder.
