North Macedonia is experiencing a period of cold and unsettled weather characterized by cloudy skies and intermittent rainfall. An influx of cold air from the north has caused temperatures to drop, with morning lows reaching 1 degree Celsius at Popova Shapka, while Gevgelija recorded 14 degrees Celsius. As the cold air mass persists, rain is expected to transition into snow at higher mountain elevations. Heavy precipitation remains a primary concern for the southeastern parts of the country. Wind conditions remain a factor, with moderate to strong gusts potentially exceeding 60 km/h, particularly along the Vardar region. In Skopje, temperatures have been projected to fluctuate between 10 and 15 degrees Celsius. However, a significant weather shift is approaching as a cold front moves in. While current conditions are mostly sunny with moderate cloud cover, strong northern winds are expected to bring a rapid cooling effect, particularly within the Skopje valley and along the Vardar region. Forecasts from the Hydrometeorological Service indicate that the upcoming cold front will bring variable cloudiness and local rain showers, with rain turning to snow in higher elevations. Morning minimum temperatures are projected to range between 0 and 7 degrees Celsius, with daytime maximums between 10 and 18 degrees. Conditions are expected to stabilize by Saturday with more sunshine and temperatures rising to 21 degrees, followed by a warmer, sunny Sunday with highs reaching up to 23 degrees. More recent reports from the North Macedonia Hydrometeorological Service (UHMR) noted low morning temperatures, including 3 degrees Celsius at Popova Shapka, 6 degrees in Mavrovi Anovi, and 7 degrees in Kruševo. Significant rainfall was recorded in Kruševo and Pretor at 32 liters per square meter, and 23 liters at Popova Shapka. Looking ahead, the Directorate for Hydrometeorological Works has announced continued unstable conditions.
