The unstable weather patterns affecting Cyprus continued through mid-October. Following an initial yellow weather warning on October 3, unsettled conditions persisted with an unstable air mass bringing increased cloud cover and isolated rain or thunderstorms, particularly along the western and northern coasts. Through the first week of October, weather patterns showed a transition from clear skies to cloud development, with potential isolated rain or storms in mountainous and inland areas. Temperatures remained around 28°C in inland and coastal areas and 17°C in mountainous regions. By October 10, shifting pressure systems were forecast to cause further changes. An unstable air mass was expected to affect the region through Wednesday, bringing increased cloud cover, local rain, and isolated thunderstorms. As of October 12, a low-pressure system forming in the Adriatic Sea was moving southeast and was expected to impact Cyprus starting Wednesday afternoon. The Department of Meteorology indicated that while initial conditions involve partial cloudiness and isolated showers, weather conditions would deteriorate, bringing mostly cloudy skies and intermittent local rain through Friday. Temperatures were forecasted to gradually decrease through Thursday before a slight rise on Friday, with moderate to strong southwesterly winds reaching 4 to 5 Beaufort. By late October, October 14, the situation escalated as the Cyprus Meteorological Service issued an orange weather patterns were expected to shift from high-pressure conditions warning due to a low-pressure systems, with temperatures projected to reach around 30°C in inland areas system originating from Greece. This warning, effective from Wednesday afternoon until 05:00 on Thursday, anticipated intense rainfall of potentially “55 and occasional light dust. 70 mm per hour,” accompanied by thunderstorms, hail, and strong wind gusts. Heavy rains in Paphos caused rivers to overflow, making the Peyia-Lara road impassable. The Department of Water Development identified 18 potential flood-risk zones, prompting the release of interactive hazard maps. By late October, weather patterns shifted again.
