West African response to HIV funding cuts

Overview

In late July 2026 Ghana’s Gosanet Foundation urged intensified public HIV education after a UNAIDS report warned that global funding cuts could reverse decades of progress. The foundation highlighted rising infection numbers in the Volta Region and detailed its community‑sensitisation, self‑test kit distribution and anti‑stigma efforts.
