Regional observances of Indonesia’s 81st Independence Day have expanded to include diverse cultural festivities, social welfare initiatives, and legislative discussions. Beyond the parades and traditional games previously noted in Bekasi and Kediri, celebrations have extended to Indragiri Hilir with Reog Ponorogo festivities, and Ambon and Bekasi with various sports and traditional competitions. Social and corporate responsibility remains a central theme. In addition to the Democratic Party’s fundraising efforts for disaster victims in NTT and Kalimantan, and inDrive’s transportation program for veterans in East Java, DKM Darul Muqomah organized mass circumcision events in Bandung. Economic incentives have also been introduced, such as PLN’s ‘Merdeka Day’ program, which offers electricity connection discounts in Maluku and North Maluku. PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk has further contributed to these celebrations through its ‘Semarak Merah Putih Kemerdekaan’ events. In Garut, a people's festival at Desa BRILiAN Sukalaksana was organized to promote the local village economy, culture, and MSMEs. Regional CEO Dewi Hestiningrum noted the initiative serves as a platform for local expression and sustainable economic growth through village tourism. Additionally, celebrations at Pasar Malaka Rorotan featured a symbolic rice pounding ceremony intended to represent food security, hard work, and community prosperity. On a policy level, the anniversary period has coincided with legislative developments in the energy sector. The Komunitas Migas Indonesia (KMI) has proposed ten ‘Golden Rules’ for the 2026 Oil and Gas Bill (RUU Migas), aiming to provide legal certainty and attract investment to the industry. Recent activities have highlighted community cooperation and environmental awareness. In Makassar and Manggala, officials have encouraged waste sorting at home, while in Pandeglang, the TNI and local residents collaborated on the construction of the Garuda Bridge. In Kendal and Ambon, military personnel and villagers held traditional competitions to foster togetherness.
