The Western Macedonia Region has initiated several infrastructure and public service projects. On October 27, 2026, the region approved €4.85 million for cycling and pedestrian infrastructure under the ESPA 2021-2027 program. This funding is distributed across the Servia, Kastoria, and Amyntaio municipalities to promote sustainable mobility and tourism near Lake Polyfytos, Maniako, Lake Petron, and Lake Vegoritida. Following this, on October 30, 2026, Regional Governor Giorgos Amanatidis signed contracts totaling approximately €1.78 million for snow removal services. These contracts are intended to prepare the national road network for the 2026-2027 winter season, covering seven sections across Kozani, Ptolemaida, Florina, Andartiko, Koromilia, Pentalofou, Tsotylio, Servia, and Grevena to ensure road safety during adverse weather. On November 2, 2026, the Greek government published a decision to accelerate expropriation processes for major road infrastructure projects in the Kozani regional unit. These projects include improvements to the Kozani–Larissa national road, the construction of a southern ring road for Kozani, and new connections near the Siatista area and the University of Western Macedonia. Additionally, a 3 million euro program co-funded by Greece and the European Union was established to support the renovation and energy upgrading of older homes. This initiative targets low and middle-income households for properties built before December 31, 1990, providing grants of 70% to 80% of costs to improve energy efficiency.
