Wieczysta Kraków managerial changes and early struggles
Wieczysta Kraków, a newly promoted club in the Polish Ekstraklasa, underwent a coaching change following a poor start to the 2026/27 season. Head coach Kazimierz Moskal, who had previously led the club to its first-ever promotion to the top flight, was dismissed after the team secured only one victory in its first four matches and sat second from the bottom of the table. Following Moskal’s departure, the club appointed Croatian manager Zeljko Kopic to lead the team. Kopic, who has experience with clubs such as Dinamo Zagreb, Hajduk Split, and Dinamo Bucharest, signed a contract through the end of the season that includes an automatic extension if the club maintains its top-flight status. His appointment was initially marked by reports that the club declined his request to bring in his preferred technical staff, Răzvan Patriche and Florentin Petre. However, Kopic later successfully advocated for Florentin Petre to join his coaching staff as an assistant. To secure Petre’s position after the club showed reluctance to accept a large delegation of assistants, Kopic reportedly agreed to forfeit a portion of his own salary. Other staff members, including video analyst Cosmin Bujor and former goalkeeper coach Alessandro Caparco, may also join the project in Poland. Kopic’s tenure has since faced immediate challenges. Following a loss in a local derby against Wisla Cracovia, the team was eliminated from the Polish Cup after a 3-1 defeat against Avia Swidnik, a third-league side. The club currently sits in 17th place in the league after five rounds. Amidst these struggles, Kopic has expressed interest in potentially recruiting players from the Romanian SuperLiga.
