On the island of Brač, a wildfire ignited by lightning continues to burn, with the affected area expanding to approximately 3,000 hectares of forest, maquis, and low vegetation. The blaze, located between Ložišće and Grabovice, has spread toward the municipalities of Milna and the Blaca monastery area. Emergency response efforts involve hundreds of personnel and significant aerial support, including Canadair CL-415 and Air Tractor aircraft. Reinforcements have been bolstered by teams from various Croatian counties, including Dubrovnik, Šibenik, Zadar, and Istria. While the fire has threatened several structures, officials report that homes and residential buildings have been successfully defended, and no evacuations of the general population or injuries to civilians or firefighters have been reported. Firefighting operations are being complicated by strong, shifting winds. Commanders have conducted aerial reconnaissance to assess inaccessible terrain. While authorities note the situation is improving compared to previous nights, full control remains elusive without rainfall. To protect the Ložišća settlement, island fire chief Nikola Martinić-Dragan implemented a strategic backfire, which successfully prevented the flames from entering the village. Although the fire has approached the municipalities of Milna and Bobovišća, authorities report that residential buildings have not been directly threatened and no evacuations have been required, though residents remain on alert. As of September 10, approximately 190 firefighters remain on the ground, supported by three Canadair aircraft and Air Tractor planes. While preparations for maritime evacuations were made for residents in Bobovišća, a full-scale evacuation was ultimately not required. By September 13, the situation escalated as the wildfire reached critical levels overnight near the settlement of Milna.
