The Italy women's national football team has progressed to the final round of the 2027 FIFA Women's World Cup qualification play-offs. Following a 2-0 victory in the first leg against Belarus in Tbilisi, Italy played the return leg at the Stadio Artemio Franchi in Florence. The match ended in a 1-1 draw after Karyna Alkhovik scored for Belarus in the 78th minute. This result allowed the Azzurre to maintain their aggregate advantage and secure advancement. Italian striker Barbara Bonansea, who scored Italy's goal in the draw, noted that the team needs to refine certain details and avoid decision-making errors in preparation for the next stage. Head coach Andrea Soncin remarked that while the team could have performed better in the second half, the primary objective of reaching the playoff finals was met. Italy is scheduled to face Finland in a decisive two-legged playoff series to determine who qualifies for the tournament in Brazil. Finland secured their place in the final by defeating Serbia 3-1. The first leg is set to take place in Finland on December 1, with the return leg in Italy on December 5. FIGC Commissioner Giovanni Malagò has expressed support for the team as they pursue their third consecutive World Cup qualification.
