Woodside Energy reported a strong Q2 performance, posting operating revenue of about $4.2 billion—a 28 % quarterly increase—while production dipped 9 % due to scheduled maintenance and cyclone impacts. The company highlighted near‑full capacity at its Sangomar facility and gave project updates: the Scarborough LNG project was 98 % complete and slated for its first cargo in Q4 2026, the Trion oil project reached 64 % completion, and the Louisiana LNG project was 28 % complete. Woodside also exercised pre‑emptive rights to acquire a 10.67 % stake in the Browse Joint Venture, secured a domestic gas supply deal with Alcoa, and transferred operatorship of Gippsland Basin assets from ExxonMobil.

Later that day, Woodside announced a further revenue surge to roughly $6 billion, attributing the jump to sharply higher global LNG prices after Iran’s missile strikes disrupted tanker traffic through the Strait of Hormuz and affected a key Qatari LNG hub. The price spike drove Asian buyers to seek Australian LNG, boosting Woodside’s sales, though some price‑sensitive customers reduced consumption and reverted to coal. CEO Liz Westcott emphasized that both revenue and prices were up, while analysts warned of potential lasting impacts on LNG demand.
