The second edition of the World Boxing U19 World Championships has officially commenced at the Mediterranean Sports Centre in Budva, Montenegro. The tournament, which runs until October 27, features ten men’s and ten women’s weight categories. The event is designed to foster grassroots development in boxing by providing a global stage for young athletes to compete in a safe and fair environment. This follows the arrival of various national delegations, including the Serbian team of 12 athletes and the Spanish U19 squad led by Rafael Lozano. As the competition progresses, the scale of the event has been noted to include 474 boxers representing 67 different countries. This tournament is part of a broader trend of Budva hosting major international boxing competitions, with the city having organized or planned 14 significant events between 2020 and 2027, including European championships and youth world cups. In addition to the active tournament, Budva is scheduled to host an Executive Committee conference for World Boxing on October 26. The organization’s president, Gennady Golovkin, is expected to attend the conference.
