In celebration of World Dog Day on October 10, the Dorstener Zeitung is inviting residents of Dorsten to submit photographs of their dogs. The initiative aims to honor the diverse roles dogs play in society, including service roles such as guide dogs, therapy dogs, and rescue dogs. Participants are asked to email their photos along with specific details, including the sender's name, the dog's name, the breed, and any accompanying stories. The campaign also serves to raise awareness regarding animal welfare and responsible dog ownership. World Dog Day is observed annually on October 10 to celebrate the bond between humans and dogs. Beyond celebrating dogs as emotional companions and family members, the day highlights the importance of animal welfare, specifically regarding the plight of street dogs and the benefits of choosing adoption over breeding.
