Blizzard confirmed Patch 12.1 “Curse of Ula’tek” launched on 11 August 2026, adding Coiled Isle, a scalable Lairs world-boss system, the Altar of Corrosion talent tree, expanded pet-companion integration, guild-hall construction and the permanent removal of Decor Duel. The first Lair, Tidebound Grotto beneath Coiled Isle, features the naga sorceress Nymrissa Waveca. A new dungeon, Altar of Fangs, and PvP arena-practice bots were also introduced, alongside additional delves and storyline elements tied to the Atol’or Bloodsworn and Prey mechanics. Coiled Isle, located off the coast of Zul’Aman, allows players to explore Amani history while navigating cursed waters. The update also introduced “Curse Surges” and “Cursed Fishing” activities, as well as quality-of-life improvements to housing systems, such as the ability to save and export blueprints. The Altar of Fangs dungeon is available in heroic and mythic 0 difficulties. Prior to the official Season 2 launch on 18 August, players could utilize the Delves system to acquire item level 305 Hero gear by completing the “Atal’utek Chambers: A Toxic Tour” questline. Season 2 introduced the eight-boss Toxic Abyss raid (Giftiger Abgrund) in the Vaults of Atal’Utek, a refreshed Mythic+ rotation including the Altar of Traps, and new PvP rewards. Following the season launch, performance analysis of over 777,000 Mythic+ runs identified Frost Death Knights as top single-target DPS in the raid, while Unholy Death Knights and Demonology Warlocks excelled in dungeon area damage. In the Toxic Abyss raid, Arms Warriors were ranked as the sole S-Tier specialization due to high damage and utility, while other classes like Balance Druids and Shadow Priests reached A-Tier. Data miners previously identified a “Camelot” build (v1.60.1) on Blizzard’s development network, hinting at a possible Classic-Plus test.
