The World Press Photo Exhibition is scheduled to return to the Teatro Margherita in Bari for its thirteenth consecutive year, running from October 16 to December 8, 2026. The exhibition showcases winning works from the 69th international edition of the competition, covering global themes such as war zones, the climate crisis, migration, and the ethical implications of artificial intelligence. In addition to the Bari location, the exhibition is also being presented at the Museo di Sinnai (MuA) until November 8. The Sinnai installment features projects from the 71st edition of the contest, which selected 42 winners from over 57,000 entries. This location includes educational activities, film screenings, and book discussions regarding photography’s role in documenting contemporary reality. As of October 17, the Bari exhibition is officially open. This installment features 144 award-winning photographs selected from 57,376 entries submitted by 3,747 photographers from 141 countries. The collection addresses international conflicts, human rights, and humanitarian emergencies. It also includes a specific section titled ‘Visioni di speranza’ (Visions of Hope), which highlights resilience and solidarity. One featured work, ‘Separated by ICE’, is noted for addressing the human impact of political and social decisions. A new exhibition featuring the 69th edition awards is set to open in Bologna at the Galleria Modernissimo, running from October 28 to November 29. Promoted by Cineteca di Bologna and Foto Image, this installment will include guided tours and talks with photographers such as Paula Hornickel, Alex Majoli, and César Rodríguez. In Bari, the event is expanding its educational outreach. Organized by Cime, open days are scheduled for October 27 and 28, specifically designed for secondary school teachers and administrators from the Puglia region to explore the educational utility of photojournalism.
