Multiple incidents involving the discovery of unexploded World War II ammunition have been reported across several Romanian counties. In mid-October, authorities recovered a 100 mm cumulative projectile with a ruptured fuse in Argeș County and a 122 mm projectile in Bihor County. By late October, further discoveries were reported in Cluj County, where specialists recovered five 105 mm projectiles in Ploscoș commune and two additional projectiles of 100 mm and 75 mm in Săndulești commune. In Harghita County, excavation work led to the discovery of nine 45 mm armor-piercing projectiles and an 82 mm mortar bomb in Sărmaş commune. On October 28, land clearing operations for the future Botoșani ring road in Orășeni Vale, Curtești commune, led to the discovery of a 60 mm mortar bomb and an artillery fuse. The items were found by an individual performing site preparation work. The ISU Botoșani pyrotechnic team transported the munitions to the Copălău military range for destruction. In all cases, pyrotechnic teams removed the items for safe destruction. Emergency services continue to advise the public not to touch or move suspicious metallic objects and to report findings immediately.
