Xona Space Systems is developing Pulsar, a satellite-based navigation and synchronization system intended as a high-precision commercial alternative to GPS. The system utilizes low Earth orbit satellites to provide centimeter-level geolocation accuracy and signals strong enough to penetrate dense urban environments. Unlike standard GPS, the architecture is designed to be resilient against jamming and spoofing while remaining compatible with existing receivers via software updates. Following preparations for beta testing and a planned six-satellite launch via SpaceX, FCC authorization in August, Xona recently launched its first block of six production-class satellites. To support the scaling of the Pulsar constellation, the company secured $250 million in Series D funding. funding, led by Future Ventures co-founder Steve Jurvetson. This investment, which investment brings Xona’s total funding to over $570 million, is intended to scale the production million and establishes a post-money valuation of the $2.45 billion. The Pulsar constellation. system is designed to offer signals up to 100 times more powerful than legacy broadcasts to improve penetration indoors and in urban areas. Xona plans to begin serving early commercial users with timing services in 2026 2027 and intends to test integrations with various military assets assets, including the Army, Navy, and Air Force, next year.
