Yamaha India has expanded its product offerings through the introduction of new motorcycles and updated scooter models. In mid-August 2026, the company opened pre-orders for a new R-series motorcycle, widely expected to be the YZF-R2, with an official launch scheduled for August 27, 2026. Customers can secure priority delivery with a refundable 10,000 Rupee deposit. While technical details are not fully disclosed, the model is anticipated to feature a liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine between 200cc and 220cc producing approximately 25 horsepower. The YZF-R2 is expected to compete with models like the KTM RC 200 and may include features such as a Deltabox frame, upside-down front forks, dual-channel ABS, and Y-Connect connectivity. Yamaha has released a teaser titled ‘The #RInstinct Is Brewing’ to preview the model, which could fill the market gap between the 155cc YZF-R15 and the 321cc YZF-R3. Recent teaser material featuring the hashtag #RInstinct has provided close-up views of the motorcycle’s design, including a sculpted fuel tank with the Yamaha tuning-fork logo and R-series style bodywork. Observers suggest the design may follow the R15 philosophy with larger proportions or incorporate styling elements from the flagship R9, such as aerodynamic panels. Speculation indicates the bike may utilize a newly developed 200cc-class single-cylinder engine platform rather than a simple displacement increase of the existing 155cc unit. While a 200cc model is considered unlikely for the Japanese market due to existing lineups like the YZF-R25, such a platform could influence future global models. Concurrently, Yamaha launched updated 2026 versions of its Fascino 125 and RayZR 125 hybrid scooters. These models feature new graphics, color schemes, and enhanced connectivity.
