Yamaha has announced updates and expansions to its R-series motorcycle lineup across Asian markets. In Japan, the company introduced the 2027 YZF-R9 ABS, which features new color options including ‘Black Metallic X’ and ‘Matte Dark Purplish Blue Metallic 1’ due to manufacturing changes, while maintaining existing mechanical specifications. Additionally, Yamaha announced a limited order-production period for a 2026 YZF-R1 race base model, a track-only version without road-legal equipment, such as headlights, indicators, and mirrors, scheduled for release starting in early February 2027. In India, Yamaha has launched the YZF-R2, a 204cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder motorcycle producing 26.1 CV. The R2 is available in multiple trims, including a top-tier R2M variant featuring adjustable suspension and a bidirectional quickshifter. The model was recently showcased at the Madras International Circuit with participation from MotoGP riders. In Taiwan, Yamaha held test ride events for the R-series, showcasing the YZF-R3 with new aerodynamic styling and Y-Connect connectivity, the high-performance YZF-R9, and the YZF-R7, which includes a reinforced chassis and enhanced electronic assistance.
