Yemen commander killed in Hadhramaut ambush
Entities: Houthi militia · Amr al‑Eriani · Usame Abdul‑Kerim Muhsin al‑Radfani · Vatan Kalkanı forces · Hadhramaut Governorate
Overview
Yemen’s internationally recognised authorities announced that Brigadier General Osama Abdelkarim Mohsen al‑Radfani, commander of the Shield of the Nation forces, was killed together with several companions in an armed ambush in the Al‑Abr area of Hadhramaut governorate. The government’s Information Ministry, represented by Minister Amr al‑Eriani, described the attack as a “treacherous terrorist crime” carried out by the Iran‑backed Houthi militia and called for the perpetrators to be pursued and brought to justice. A parallel report identified the victim as Brigadier Usame Abdul‑Kerim Muhsin al‑Radfani, commander of the 4th Brigade of the Vatan Kalkanı forces, and similarly condemned the assault as a cowardly effort to destabilise the country. No group claimed responsibility, and the Houthis have not responded. Both statements expressed condolences to the families of the fallen and warned that impunity for such attacks threatens Yemen’s security and regional stability.
