Authorities in Aden, Yemen, have begun establishing the Al-Fardous displacement camp in the Al-Buraiqeh district to accommodate thousands of people fleeing military escalation by Houthi forces. The camp was designed to hold between 3,000 and 5,000 people following reports that at least 46,000 individuals were displaced due to intensified fighting in provinces such as Taiz and Lahj. During a field visit to the Ras Umran area, Human Rights Minister Mashdal Mohammed Omar and State Minister for Displaced Persons Walid Al-Abara assessed the conditions of approximately 128 families, totaling over 600 individuals, residing in roughly 250 tents. The delegation, which included representatives from the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights and the UNHCR, focused on families displaced from the coastal districts of Taiz and Hodeidah. While officials have begun evaluating essential services such as water, sanitation, food, healthcare, and education, services, the Ministry of Human Rights has recorded cases requiring urgent intervention for vulnerable groups, including women, children, groups. Expanding the elderly, and scope of humanitarian assessments, Fahmi Al-Suhaibi, President of the Southern Future Council in Aden, inspected the Salah al-Din displaced persons with disabilities. To address long-term needs, officials are coordinating camp. Accompanied by Vice President Baligh Deeban, Al-Suhaibi evaluated the conditions of families arriving from Mocha and Bab al-Mandab. During the visit, he met with camp supervisors and local authorities committee members to discuss critical shortages in food, water, healthcare, shelter, and education. Al-Suhaibi called upon international organizations on several sustainable projects. These include drilling water wells to replace current water tanks, establishing a small health center, creating a children’s playground and garden, and completing the camp’s connection humanitarian donors to the electricity grid.
