Yemeni government Fajr al-Yaman military operation

Overview

The Yemeni government has initiated a military campaign titled ‘Fajr al-Yaman’ (Dawn of Yemen) to reclaim state institutions and territory from Houthi control. Launched on October 5, 2026, the operation aims to restore sovereignty over Yemen’s land, airspace, and territorial waters, with the support of a Saudi-led coalition. Government officials stated the campaign is a “constitutional necessity” to protect citizens and address threats to maritime security in the Red Sea and Bab al-Mandab strait.

Following the launch, local authorities have begun mobilization efforts. In the Raymah Governorate, Major General Mohammed Ali Saleh al-Houri led meetings with security officials and resistance members to organize community resources in support of the armed forces. Al-Houri urged citizens in Houthi-controlled areas to reject militia recruitment and rejoin the state side.
