Candidates for the Yilan County Magistrate position have begun advancing their political campaigns. Lin Kuo-chang has appointed a campaign team and supporters, utilizing artwork created by a local elementary student. Concurrently, Wu Tsung-hsien has officially registered his candidacy with support from the Kuomintang and the Taiwan People's Party. Wu’s platform emphasizes the creation of a regional alliance between Taipei, New Taipei, Keelung, Taoyuan, and Yilan, alongside policies focused on social welfare, childcare, indigenous revitalization, and long-term care. On September 27, Wu Tsung-hsien officially established his campaign headquarters. The event included appearances by New Taipei City Mayor Hou Yu-ih, Kuomintang Chairperson Cheng Li-wen, and Taiwan People's Party Chairperson Huang Kuo-chang. During the launch, Hou Yu-ih advocated for the development of a ‘Yilan-Keelung-New Taipei-Taoyuan’ integrated living circle to enhance local industry and connectivity. Cheng Li-wen criticized Lin Kuo-chang, characterizing him as a proxy for President Lai Ching-te and a representative of the ‘New Tide’ faction, arguing that his victory would grant that faction control over the Yilan County government.
