The Yokohama DeNA BayStars experienced a midseason resurgence in the NPB. After a poor performance in June, the team improved significantly during July, climbing to fourth place in the standings. This momentum continued into August, driven by key offensive contributions from Heral Encarnacion and the tactical development of catcher Shion Matsuo. The team’s offensive surge has been further bolstered by veteran slugger Yoshitomo Tsutsugo. After struggling following his return from the United States, the 34-year-old revitalized his performance by correcting technical issues regarding his lower body and weight distribution identified during minor league training. Tsutsugo recently achieved a four-game home run streak, which included a walk-off home run and a decisive solo shot against Hiroshima. His improved ability to handle inside pitches has also enhanced his effectiveness against outside pitches. He is currently approaching a club-tying record of five consecutive games with a home run for the DeNA BayStars.
