The Yokohama DeNA BayStars have made several roster changes involving players. In mid-September, the club removed rookie infielder Asahi Miyashita from the first-team roster. Miyashita, a third-round draft pick, had appeared in 71 games during the season. By late September, the team announced it would not renew the contract of pitcher Hayato Horioka for the 2027 season. Horioka, who previously played for the Yomiuri Giants, had earned a spot on the main roster in June 2024 and was part of a Japan Series championship team. Following these decisions, the released players, including Horioka, Sasaki, and Inoue, have expressed a “strong desire to continue their professional careers,” potentially through tryouts or by joining other clubs. In late September, DeNA pitcher Sota Nakagawa announced his retirement from professional baseball, stating he felt he had fulfilled his goals after 22 years of playing.
