Youth art education programs in Venezuela
Overview
Cultural institutions in Caracas have implemented various educational initiatives for Venezuelan youth. Initially, the Museum of Sciences and the Museum of Fine Arts, organized by the Ministry of Culture, offered free vacation workshops for children and adolescents aged 6 to 15 at the Plaza de los Museos.
Following these efforts, the National Museums Foundation (FMN) expanded its outreach through the “El museo va a tu escuela” (The museum goes to your school) program. This initiative moved art education directly into academic institutions, conducting workshops on collage and reinterpreting works by artists such as Arturo Michelena and Armando Reverón. The program has reached 873 children across several Caracas neighborhoods and the Llanos region.
