Youth employment initiatives in Busan
Overview
Efforts to boost youth employment and regional settlement in South Korea have centered on large-scale job fairs. In late August, the Busan Employers Federation announced the ‘2026 Bu-Ul-Gyeong Welcome Youth Job Fair’ to be held in Seoul on September 3. This event aims to connect job seekers from the Seoul metropolitan area and other regions with companies in Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongsangnam-do, offering support packages of up to 60 million won for those moving to the region to work in the machinery, shipbuilding, or automotive sectors.
Following this, Busan Metropolitan City and the Busan Economic Promotion Agency announced a larger ‘2026 Busan Youth Mega Job Fair’ scheduled for September 21 at BEXCO. This integrated platform involves 19 institutions and approximately 100 regional companies. The event will feature recruitment interviews, live briefings, and AI-based job diagnostics to assess core competencies and recommend roles.
