Singaporean authorities have recently detained several youths in connection with security threats and radicalization plots. In late July, the Internal Security Department detained three youths, aged 14, 15, and 19, under the Internal Security Act. These individuals were allegedly involved in plots targeting schools, LGBT students, and a military airbase. One 14-year-old reportedly planned a mass stabbing and authored a 21-page manifesto, while a 19-year-old tertiary student allegedly planned knife attacks against Singapore Armed Forces personnel. In mid-August, separate incidents involving teenagers led to arrests for false security claims. A 15-year-old girl was arrested following a bomb ~~threat~~ hoax at Xinmin Secondary School on August 13. A note found in a classroom prompted the school to activate emergency evacuation procedures for students and staff. While police searches found no suspicious items, investigations continue regarding the communication of false information of a harmful thing. If convicted, the individual could face up to seven years in prison, a fine of up to S$50,000, or both. Principal Tan Soon Hui stated that ~~necessitated an evacuation.~~ the school is working closely with police to ensure the safety of students and staff. Additionally, a 17-year-old was detained at the Woodlands Checkpoint for public nuisance after falsely claiming that companions were in possession of a bomb and an e-vaporizer.
