In August 2026, Konami Digital Entertainment announced the ‘Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel High School Japan Championship 2026’, an eSports tournament for high school, vocational, and correspondence students in Japan. The competition was designed for two-person teams, with registration opening in early August and finals scheduled for November. Later in the month, the Yu-Gi-Oh! World Championship 2026 concluded in Tokyo. Held at the Tokyo Garden Theater, the event crowned champions in several formats, including the Trading Card Game (TCG), Master Duel, Speed Duel, and Rush Duel. Winners included representatives from Canada, South Korea, Germany, and Japan. Specific results from the World Championship confirmed Canadian player Mario Angelo De Micco as the TCG champion after defeating the United Kingdom’s Josh Kelly. In the Master Duel category, the South Korean team ‘Called By Army’—comprising Minsung Kim, Hyunsoo Lee, and Jisuk Kim—won the 3-on-3 final against Japan’s ‘Glory Future’. Within the Duel Links competition, Germany’s Philipp Thomas (Snyffus) secured the Speed Duel title, while Takuma Kitamura of Japan won the Rush Duel format.
