Yunlin County is implementing various initiatives to promote its local industries and cultural heritage. Early September efforts include the ‘Yunlin Towel Carnival’ to showcase the region’s towel manufacturing industry and a flagship tour by the Taiwan Puppet Theater Institute featuring twelve performances across several cities. On September 5, the ‘2026 Towel Joy Summer: Yunlin Towel Carnival’ officially opened at the Taipei Expo Park in Yuanshan. Attended by Taipei Mayor Chiang Wan-an, Yunlin County Magistrate Chang Li-shan, and Legislator Chang Chia-chun, the event aims to introduce Yunlin’s craftsmanship and brand charm to the capital’s market through integrated marketing and cross-sector cooperation. Mayor Chiang noted that Taipei serves as a vital consumer market, highlighting existing support for Yunlin’s agricultural products. He reported that the procurement of Yunlin peanut dumplings by the Taipei Agricultural Products Marketing Corporation has increased nearly sixfold during his term. Additionally, Chiang mentioned that Yunlin towels are frequently utilized in major Taipei events, such as the Taipei Marathon, and expressed interest in deepening cooperation regarding tourism and specialty product distribution. In conjunction with these efforts, the county launched the 2026 National Monuments Day under the theme ‘Tracing the City’. Running through mid-October, this program includes fourteen activities such as walking tours and lectures connected to thirty cultural heritage sites. These events are supported by a long-term preservation program that has initiated fifty-five cultural asset restoration projects since 2019. Additionally, the county has introduced a new brand identity for its cultural assets to symbolize the continuity of cultural memory.
