ZLM Tour cycling competition

Overview

Mathias Vacek of Lidl-Trek established a strong position early in the ZLM Tour by winning both the opening time trial in Kapelle and the second stage from Westkapelle to Heinkenszand. During the second stage, strong winds caused the peloton to split, eventually resulting in a breakaway group of thirteen riders. Vacek won the sprint to secure a 45-second lead in the general classification over teammate Max Walscheid.

At the conclusion of the tour, Mathias Vacek claimed the overall general classification victory. While the final stage in Waalwijk was won in a mass sprint by nineteen-year-old Henry Hobbs of the Visma | Lease a Bike development team, the peloton successfully controlled a seven-man breakaway to maintain the race structure.
